Following are examples of the leisure time activities available at The Windsor of Savoy and Windsor Court.
July 2008
Tuesday, July 1st -10:30 a.m. Memorial Service for Dr. Russ - Savoy Room.
Wednesday, July 2nd — 10:30 a.m. “Cabaret” If you have signed up to go to Sullivan’s Little Theater to see “Cabaret,” we will load at 10:30 at door 3. You will need to bring money for lunch. The lunch will consist of a fried chicken buffet at the Country Club in Sullivan before the show!
Wednesday, July 2nd—Dinner Music with Aaron Cravens—Savoy Room. Come enjoy the beautiful sounds of piano as you dine this evening.
Friday, July 4th—5:00 p.m.—Music by Gene Trimble—Savoy Room. Come to the Savoy Room and celebrate the 4th of July with music by Gene Trimble!
Sunday, July 6th—5:00 p.m.— “Velvet Touch”—Savoy Room. Enjoy the smooth jazz sound of Kat Downs and Bill Taylor, as Kat sings and plays the piano, and Bill adds a touch of percussion!
Wednesday, July 9th—1:00 p.m.—Bell Recording—WCT Activity Room. We will be recording our second CD featuring patriotic music.
Wednesday, July 9th—1:00 p.m. Carle Audiologist , Jennifer Black, will be available in the WCT Wellness Office By Appointment Only. Please make appointments at the WCT Front Desk 351-1490.
Thursday, July 10th—9:15 a.m. Cunningham Clippers—Illini Lounge
Thursday, July 10th—10:30 a.m. Special Program with Bill Webber– Savoy Room. Come join us for a special presentation featuring various percussion instruments in celebration of Drums & Percussion Month
Thursday, July 10th—10:30 a.m. Lunch Outing to the Philo Tavern. Please sign up if you would like to go on this lunch outing.
Friday, July 11th—2:30 p.m. Seated Yoga Class with Deb Lister in the WCT Activity Room. This will be the last seated yoga session, so don’t miss out!

Tuesday, July 15th—4:30 p.m. “Evening in the Caribbean” Please join us for an evening in the Caribbean. At 4:30 there will be cocktails and authentic Caribbean cuisine. From 6:00-8:00 the New Orleans Jazz Machine will be here to entertain you! Also enjoy entertainment by I-Pan Steel Drums throughout the evening. Please Sign up in the Activity Book before Monday, July 7th.
Wednesday, July 16th—Crafts—10:30 a.m.—Savoy Room. Come join in on the craft project for this month. No need to sign up - there will be plenty!
Wednesday, July 16th Popcorn Trivia—Savoy Room. Today is Orville Redenbacher Day! Come learn some interesting facts about popcorn while enjoying the tasty treat!
Thursday, July 17th New Resident Social—Savoy Room. Come to the Savoy Room to welcome the new residents and get to know them!
Friday, July 18th—11:00 a.m. Red Hat/Top Hat Lunch Outing to Rainbow Garden Would you like to join us? Please sign up in the Activity Book
Friday, July 18th—2:00 p.m. Nintendo Wii Demonstration— Savoy Room Come join us in the Savoy Room for a demonstration on how to play the new Nintendo Wii. This will be an introduction on how to use the Wii so you will be able to participate in future events.
Tuesday, July 22nd — July Birthday lunch & Bingo– 11:30 a.m. All residents are welcome to begin their afternoon with a Birthday Lunch in the Dining Room. We will be celebrating our July Birthdays. Join us for a little lunch, accompanied by some cake and ice cream. After that, you are welcome to join in the fun with a game or two of Bingo in the Lounge. You do NOT need to sign up.
Tuesday, July 22nd — Tolono Library—1:30 p.m. Windsor Court Library. The Tolono Library provides services to help you with any library needs.
Wednesday, July 23rd— 11:00 a.m. Champaign County Fair. Enjoy the Champaign County Fair. Browse through the stands, eat lunch and enjoy harness races. Please bring money for lunch. Sign up in the Activity Book if you would like to attend!
Wednesday, July 23rd—Music by DR Dixieband—Savoy Room. Enjoy the fabulous music stylings of DR Dixieband!
Thursday, July 24th—9:15 a.m. Cunningham Clippers—Illini Lounge
Thursday, July 24th—1:30 p.m. Out & About. You’ll need to sign up if you would like to go on our Out & About. Where will we be going? It’s always a mystery. Please sign up in the Activity Book.
Tuesday, July 29th—10:00 a.m. Bingo with Heartland—Savoy Room. Come to the Savoy Room and enjoy playing bingo.
Wednesday, July 30th - 10:30a.m. – Quarterly Memorial Service – Savoy Room. We will be having a memorial service remembering all those residents who have passed away in the past few months. This month we will be remembering Bill Burke, Ed Rechel, Helen Ogata, Jack Riley, Fred Bryant , Ruth McIntosh, and Frank Russ.
Thursday, July 31st—8:00—12:00 p.m. Defensive Driving Course—Savoy Room. The Windsor will be hosting a Defensive Driving Course in the Savoy Room, July 31st (Thursday) and August 1st (Friday), from 8 am to noon, both days. The only cost is $10 for the book. If you are interested, please contact Angelika at 351-1467, ext. 224. We still have room for more residents!
